Bell Tower

Brunch was had at the Bell Tower, after a glowing review from Richard and Lucy. We had a breakfast burrito with home fries and guac (Rosie) and a BBQ Pulled Pork bap with french fries (me). The standard of eating over here is nuts; a fairly inexpensive meal - $25 for both of us inc. two soft drinks - was delicious and the service was all smiley and nice. We padded up and down the hills of SF all afternoon to walk it off, bellies full of awesomeness. Must. Start. Gym. Soon.

Noe Bagel

A great little bagel place we found in our new neighbourhood, Noe Valley. We've been furiously apartment hunting since we got here and found a great new pad on Elizabeth and Castro. The bagels were Lox (Rosie) and Pastrami (me) with all the trimmings. I've decided not to rate fast-food, so no marks-out-of-ten, but it was darned tasty.

Pancho’s Salsa Bar & Grill

A quick Sunday night jaunt back down to Polk St for some food landed us in Pancho's Salsa Bar & Grill. It's a cheep'n'cheerful kinda place, and truth be told, we weren't expecting a lot - but the fish tacos were very good, the pulled pork tacos were super good, and we had all that and a beer each for just over $20. The refried beans may be causing some alarming belly happenings, but all in all, a decent supper.

Shrimpness

A picture I forgot to post from our day out to Fisherman's Wharf last week. It was raining and we were pooped - so a quick stop for some fried shrimp and a tasty bottle of the local brew; Anchor Steam. (more…)

Swensens

Walking back from a trip to see the sealions on Pier 39 we stumbled upon Swensens. An old San Fran favourite by all accounts, we shared a cup of the Caramel Marble. It was quite possibly the finest ice-cream I've ever tasted. It would score a ten, but the guy serving us freaked Rosie out a bit.

Soda Pop

In the Big Apple Grocery on Polk St there's an awesome collection of old fashioned Soda pops. My brother and I have a long-standing love of root beer, the selection here is astounding. I started with a Dad's Root Beer and a Boylan's Birch Beer. If this is of any interest (i figure it may be pretty niche) then watch this video, great stuff.

San Foodcisco

To those that know us it'll be strikingly obvious that it's going to be an impossible challenge to keep a blog without the occasional mention of food. I'm starting off with one of the most important and essential of all the food-groups, Pizza. A Victor's Special from Victor's Pizza on Polk. A fine pie with a good crust - the general laid-back vibe in Victor's also added to the charm. Walking through the kitchen to get to the toilet (washroom) was an added bonus.
